Help Molly and Éilís to Clown Around

As some of you may remember, in 2017 I met and worked with Teatro Schabernack on a TCFT residency in Sarteano, Italy. [See my 2017 blog post about my first trip to Montelaterone here]

Well, now I'm hoping to go back to work with Teatro Schabernack again in their small village called Montelaterone in less than 3 weeks time. And this time I'm going to be working with my colleague Éilís.

We're running a crowdfunding campaign to help us get there. Éilís and I are both trained performers and are working in the arts as producers and facilitators. We are also consistently working with young people. We want to use this time to develop our clowning skills and work on making a short performance that we can share and develop back in Dorset when we’re home. We want to use the skills developed and honed to lead workshops for youth groups when we’re back.

We believe clowning is a very accessible and playful art form that will enable both us and society to connect with the world and humans around us.

OUTCOMES

  • After our two-week intensive artistic development we will have created a short 10 minute scratch performance. We will perform this to the residents of Montelaterone and Dorset.

  • Once we have returned to the UK we will continue to develop our performance practice.

  • We aim to facilitate workshops with youth groups in Dorset, teaching clowning and story telling techniques for theatre. We would like to deliver inclusive clowning sessions to at least 30 young people aged 8-26yrs.

SUPPORT NEEDED

We need support with Artist costs and travel to make this happen.

£600 (Travel: Flights, Trains, Coaches, Buses for Molly and Éilís)

£1,200 (Artist Fees: Paying Teatro Schabernack to train us)
